I was out scouting last week with Tourism and Parks and one of the spots we were looking at was on the ice at Masionette Beach- and all the fishing shacks there. Quite the world, all pristine and white on the outside with some brilliantly painted huts, and on the inside another world, the only light coming from the glow of the water, much like looking into the top an aquarium. Smelt are the fish and spearing them is the method. The man who introduced us to this glowing world said he once caught a 150 this way. Quite the accomplishment. Quite the feed.
