Waiting for Spring
I was up in Loggieville for Matilada Murdoch’s 90th birthday party last week- Matilda is the vibrant fiddler featured in my book Miramichi:River of Character, the lady in the exuberant pose with her bow and fiddle held high after she finished a tune. But before we went to her party, Terry Power and I drove around Escuminac for a look at the frozen harbour and the lobster boats waiting for the spring break up. It was cold. The wind was whipping snow across the road so jumping in and out of the warmth of the truck to snap a photo took a bit of self-motivational speaking, but this boat and the end-of-day light couldn’t be refused.
