Well, since I was out twice with the snow blower and then stomping through some drifts to take some photos of Christ Church Cathedral here in Fredericton, I guess it might be time to admit that winter is here. And that is good news for all of us with our skis waxed and ready to go. Here’s a B&W from today’s effort that was taken with my new Canon G10- a point and shoot wonder. I converted it in CS4. Shooting with B&W in mind sure takes me back to the beginning, or at least my beginnings as a photographer. Enjoy the winter.

Sometimes a photo looks good in colour, sometimes it works well in B&W- and sometimes day can become night. I just got the new CS4 and was playing around with some of its new controls on this image while it was in colour. It didn’t look too bad as a colour shot (shot on my new Canon G10), but when I started fooling around with the B&W converter it suddenly started to pop. I missed Halloween by a month, but I will be ready next year and I will do all my shooting in the daytime when it is warmer and easier to focus.
