Goa and Fishing

Well, it has been two months since we got back from India and all the wonders that that entails. Overwhelming? Often. Intense? Always. But glad to have gone? Without a doubt. I will, over the next few weeks, try to put up ten or so photos and a bit of commentary on them and the country. This first one is from Goa where inshore fishermen bring in nets filled with mackeral everyday- filled to my eyes, but as one fishermen told me, “Each year our fishermen, our cooperative, catches fewer and fewer fish.” He pointed out to the horizon for the reason why, “The big boats take everything. They have no restrictions.” Sounds familiar to Canadian ears. I can’t help but think of the inshore cod fishery in Newfoundland.
