Looks quite cold doesn’t it. Well, it could be the end of my kayaking season, although this photo is from two weeks ago, yesterday when I went out, all was bright and sunny, but when I reached the Saint John river the North West Passage was frozen over. So back onto Kelly Creek for the last bit of open water up here. Now where did I put my skis.

This picture recently ran in the Reader, the Telegraph Journal’s weekend magazine. It shows a priestess, not exactly the correct term, but close, smoking a huge Guatemalan cigar at the cult of Maximon near Antigua. This priestess was starting cigars for a younger Latino woman beside her who was in the process of smoking five of them as an act of purification. You can imagine what would happen after five cigars. Purified? Perhaps.
